Thermal Expansion Tank

Thermal expansion tanks are required on all installations with closed-loop water systems, which is the majority of systems. Devices such as check valves, backflow preventers, or pressure-reducing valves (PRVs) prevent contamination, but trap expanding water (from water heating up), which can create dangerous pressure. The thermal expansion tanks absorbs the expansion keeping pressure at safe levels.
