Tankless Service Restores Hot Water

This homeowner in Redmond called to request support with a Rinnai tankless water heater that was no longer serving hot water. It was showing an error code that pointed to ignition failure. Since the united had not been serviced within the last year, we started with a standard tankless service which includes flushing the heat exchanger with a descaling solution, checking and cleaning filters and condensate trap, checking expansion tank pressure, and an overall inspection of the unit. The descaling process produced very dirty water and that there were heavy spider webs and debris throughout the unit which we cleaned up. The error code was resolved by removing and cleaning the spark arrestor/air intake screen which restored proper combustion air flow.
